Common questions
How do I capture an idea?
Tap the purple microphone button, say what's on your mind, then tap Tap to save. Idea transcribes the recording on your iPhone and saves it with a title, summary, tags and category. You can edit any of them.
Idea says "Microphone access is off" or I don't get a transcript
Open the iPhone Settings › Idea and turn on Microphone and Speech Recognition. You can choose the transcription language in Idea under Profile › Preferences › Language.
How are titles, categories and tags created?
Idea organizes each capture on your iPhone from its transcript, using simple rules. You can turn automatic categories and tags off in Profile › Organizing, and edit any idea by tapping Edit.
I was offline. Did I lose my recording?
No. When a capture can't be uploaded you can keep it on your iPhone; it uploads automatically the next time you open Idea with a connection. Home shows how many recordings are waiting.
How do I sign in or keep my ideas when I change phones?
You can start without an account. To keep your ideas across devices, go to Profile › Sign in and add your email. Open the link we email you on the same iPhone to finish.
What does Premium include?
Free includes 10 captures a month. Idea Premium (monthly or yearly) unlocks unlimited captures and Ask My Ideas. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
How do I cancel my subscription or get a refund?
- Cancel: iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Idea › Cancel Subscription. Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refund: purchases are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I bought Premium but it isn't showing
Open Profile › Subscription and tap Restore purchases, using the same Apple Account you paid with. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the date of purchase.
How do I delete my recordings, ideas or account?
- Recordings only: Profile › Preferences › Delete recordings. Your ideas and transcripts stay.
- All ideas: Profile › Preferences › Delete all ideas.
- Account: Profile › Preferences › Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, ideas and recordings from our servers.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in iPhone Settings as described above.
